Much prior to kick-starting the analysis on Maniratnam’s Kaatru Veliyidai second trailer, there is something special to be cited upon his ethnic style of promotions. He has been following the most spectacular style of promotions from the very beginning, right from the first look posters and a surprise that came with the last poster with Karthi in different look. It’s usually a Hollywood pattern, where couple of trailers or sometimes even more released to get the audiences settled with the basic premise of the story. The first theatrical trailer of Kaatru Veliyidai established the characterizations of Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari. Whereas in this new theatrical trailer, we get to see more about the film’s premise. There is much more exploration into different locations, different episodes of these characters.

There happens to be a particular shot, where Aditi Rao Hydari walking and we hear the voiceover, “It’s not happening VC!!! I am puzzled when you would shower love and when you would throw me out.” As she walks out, we see Karthi chatting with a girl that’s in blurred zoom out. This lets us connect with the verses ‘Ennodirunthaal Evalo ninaivan... Avalodu irunthaal Enaiye ninaivan’ and that’s a wowing quotient we happen to see relevance in Maniratnam’s movies.

The snow capped mountains of Ladakh and in contrast, the stony steeps, where Karthi elopes is literally enthralling and that gives a clear impression that it’s not just going to be all about ROMANCE, but there’s much more to explore.

At times, we get to see and imagine, if Maniratnam’s Roja was digitalized and we tend to recapture it with the trailer, it would be same as this one. But to be sure, it’s a different story altogether as the team acclaims.

Over here, it’s all about the background score by AR Rahman that emblazons the visual treat of Ravi Varman.

More than first theatrical trailer, this one gives a much more compelling impact turning us irresistible to watch the film
