Vanamagan Trailer Review

Forest based adventures films are somewhat considered not as a favourite cup of coffee by our South Indian filmmakers. Of course, there have been many films set against the forest backdrops, but not a complete film about tribal groups or how it is dramatized. Jayam Ravi-Sayyeshaa starrer ‘Vanamagan’ has the theatrical trailer unveiled.

First thing that instantly hits our senses is the musical spell of Harris Jayaraj. Well, the unique sounding vocalisms that we find during the initial moments of the trailer are the usual trademark that Harris Jayaraj constantly uses in all his songs and movies. Maybe, it has probabilities of gaining mixed reviews too. But what seemingly happens to be the backbone of the film is likely the cinematography of Thirunavukarasu. The visual impact is definitely great with the forest and city portions very well canned.

The film could be somehow compared or referred with some of the Hollywood films, especially from Tony Jaa movies, but well we aren’t meant to say that it’s a copycat or remake. We have seen such movies of a tribal man of the old primitive groups falling in love with an urban girl or vice versa. Prakash Raj is apparently considered to be the main villain out here and maybe, his role is a stereotypical one of being a rich dad, who is now on the hunt to save his daughter from the clutches of Jayam Ravi.

Some of the stunt sequences by Stunt Silva grab our attention. The hilarious shots like Jayam Ravi opening up the bow and arrow upon the showcase model at apparels showroom. Sayyeshaa steals the show with her beautiful looks, but we need to wait and watch about her characterization and hope it doesn’t turn out to be a time-worn role.

Director Vijay always desires and attempts to make movies based on different genres and he comes up with the forest based action adventure. Jayam Ravi seems to have given his heart and soul into the role and it will definitely standout as an exceptional one from his erstwhile movies.

But we don’t get a gripping essence from the trailer and we aren’t urged impulsively to grab the show. Maybe, with the songs and few more visual promos, we could be instigated to do so.
