SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise has made the global spotlights turned upon the Indian sub-continent, where it still keeps the fever getting bigger and bigger. The film’s second instalment ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ is hitting screens in couple of days time. Of course, the film has got its realms across different Indian languages and would be soon seeing the International versions too. But at this juncture, let us have a look at certain epical historic movies from Tamil film industry, which was supposed to spearhead ahead of Baahubali in time. But these movies were stalled at different stages of production and few on time of inception itself.

Well, this film had just made the entire world in awestruck moment, especially with Queen Elizabeth II visiting the sets for movie launch. Moreover, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan had completed major portions of the film, which still keeps the entire town spellbound. In fact, Ilayaraja unveiled a single track last year during his concert, which intensified the expectation.

According to the reports, AR Rahman and few other friends advised him not to go with such highly speculative movie that would demand for much more aspects in technical and narrative quotients. The film was to feature Vijay, Chiyaan Vikram and Mahesh Babu in lead roles.

Ajith Kumar-Vishnuvardhan film

Before few months, it was learnt from the close sources that writer Jayamohan has penned a period film for Vishnuvardhan that would feature Ajith Kumar as an emperor. Although, Vishnuvardhan is vigorously working towards the script works, it is still to be confirmed whether the project would get materialized instantly as Ajith Kumar’s next project or in later future. It is also confirmed through the close sources that the same team of ‘Arrambam’ will be retained here.
Hearsay Synopsis - The film travels through the life and domain of a Chola Dynasty emperor of 12th century.


This was yet another period film that Kamal Haasan had plans to make it at a whopping budget. It was reported to be a movie made at the cost of 125Crore involving multi-lingual actors from Indian country and International cinema too. Trisha was initially signed for the female lead role. The rehearsals were relentlessly held at the premises of Kamal Haasan office in Chennai nearly for couple of months. Major portions were to be shot inside forest regions and Ilayaraja was signed to compose music.

It was one of the highly expected movies of the decade, where it was supposed to be produced at a whopping budget. The film’s shoot had actually commenced in the backdrops of ECR, where set works were erected. The film is about Karikala Chozhan set upon the time of 320 B.C. starring Bollywood actress Zarine Khan in female lead role. The film was directed by Kannan, a former associate of Shankar and major portions were shot using visual effects.
