When the first look of Sridevi starrer ‘Mom’ was unveiled, there were lots of reasons that paved us way out to claim this to be yet another routine female centric film, slightly in terms with her Sri Devi’s comeback film ‘English Vinglish’ as well. But what brought forth a complete disagreement and a sense of astonishment is the full length theatrical trailer of this film that has been released now.

The very opening shot of this trailer that includes a Green matte of Sri Devi standing over the hill top that has backdrops of dark cloud striking up with the thunder and lightning that has her voiceover. This intense short lined dialogue itself commutes us into a different world and evidently pulls us into a conclusion – This isn’t a normal mother-daughter story, but has something beyond it. How far can a mother go to protect something that is beyond her abilities? Soon after watching the 2 minute 06 seconds of ‘Mom’, you’re spellbound over the entire presentation and moreover it gives you an immense feeling of whether is it a FEMALE VERSION OF PAPANASAM.

A well presented trailer that clearly establishes the major characterizations in the film, but guess who scores brownie points – Nawazuddin Siddiqui who is expected to make a special appearance. The couple of shots he appears and the dialogues he renders are you sure to create a thundering clap in theatres. Just watch out for the sequence, where he says, “Kadavul Mela Nambikkai Vaiyunga”, and Sri Devi replies, “Kadavul Yella Edathuliyum Irukuradhu Illa,” which ends up with his words, “Adhunaalathaan Ammava Padachaan.”.

What adorns the emotional dramatic trailer is the spellbinding musical score of AR Rahman. Couple of lines in the trailer slightly reminds us off ‘Vaan’ from Kaatru Veliyidai, but then; the BGM for the entire trailer is brilliantly done.
