GV Prakash-Arthana starrer ‘Sema’ has 5 tracks that includes a theme music and it’s a complete folk album that has our analysis as below. The film is directed by Valliganth and is produced by Pasanga Pandiraj, who has written dialogues for this film as well. GV Prakash has composed music and cinematography is handled by Vivek Anand.
Song: Uruttu Kannala
Singer: Santhosh Hariharan, MM Monisha
A typical folk song that has been a favourite genre of GV Prakash Kumar over the years. He has never failed to impress us with this patterned track and what we get to hear from ‘Uruttu Kannala’ is appreciable. Of course, the tune is slightly picked up from a Hindu ritual song that has been used in many Tamil movie tracks. Santhosh Hariharan and MM Monisha offer the best on their portions.
Singers: Velmurugan, Mahalingam
Aftermath the Chartbuster hit of ‘Adi Karuppu Nerathazhagi’, GV Prakash delivers an appealing track of the same genre. This one has a medium paced rhythmic accompaniment and it keeps you going for repeated hearing. Yet again, the same man – Vel Murugan of Karuppu Nerathazaghi joins rendering a beautiful number along with Mahalingam. Everything from musical fill-ins to the interludes and preludes are splendiferous here.
Song: Vechu Senjachu
Singers: Raja Ganapathy, Adhik Ravichandran
Lyrics: Arunraja Kamaraj
Unlike the previous numbers, this one gets too faster that will ultimately offer a good treat to the front benchers. It sounds like an introduction song, where filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran is used merely for some gimmicks. Raja Ganapathy renders with what is required for this genre of song. Arun Kamaraj might not be too impressive as his erstwhile lyrical lines, but is okay.
Song: Nenje Nenje
Singers: Siddharth Mahadevan, Shasha Tirupati
One thing that is so much noticeable with this album from GV Prakash is that he has done a lot of efficient work in picking up the right combination of singers. This song is too melodious and the musical accompaniment is so much soothing. Not to miss the rendition by Siddarth Mahadevan and Shasha Tirupati.
Song: Sema Theme
Nadaswaram Thirumoorthy, Adhik Ravichandran
Adhik Ravichandran keeps yelling throughout the track, but the basic theme score by Nadaswaram Thirumoorthy has the perfect ethnical style of regional backdrops. Sounds like a festival number, which might be the introduction of GV Prakash in the movie.
Overall, the songs is Sema are comparatively good with the recent albums of GV Prakash. Couple of songs ‘Sandalee’ and ‘Nenje Nenje’ are the immediate ones that gains our attention.
Verdict : Couple of melodious tracks haunts us.
