Music and Tamil cinema has always been symbiotic over decades and films based musical genres have always managed to make it beyond the boundaries to entice the music lovers with our tunes. Hip Hop Aadhi’s debut directorial ‘Meesaya Murukku’ featuring him in lead role is based on musical drama. 1. Boys - Director Shankar came out of his usual zone of making romantic movies and socio-commercial thrillers for the first time and made ‘Boys’. The film is out and out musical love story that traverses through the life of 5 youngsters and how their life takes a turn on unexpected junctures.

2. Duet - This is regarded as one of the best emotional love story based on musical backdrops. The film featured Prabhu and Ramesh Aravind in lead roles with late veteran filmmaker K Balachandar wielding the megaphone. 3. Mozhi - Laced with a breezy theme, the film revolves around the lives of musicians – Prakash Raj and Prithviraj. Although the plot revolves around the love story between Prithviraj and Jyotika, who plays a woman with hearing and speech impairment.

4. Mugavari - This is one of the memorable films in Ajith Kumar’s career before he embarked on his new innings as mass hero. A beautiful drama that was completely imbibed to musical essence of an aspiring playback music director, who is urged by situations to give up his dreams and ambitions.

5. Jodi - Prashanth-Simran starrer ‘Jodi’ had the blast of musical score by AR Rahman, where it focalizes upon the lives of music students, who fall in love with each other, but their lives are bound to unexpected turns of events.
