When a film is made set against the backdrops of metropolitan city like Chennai, it would be either a love story or something that involves crime. But with the emergency of Information Technology based professional domain, more love stories based on these backdrops have been constantly made. In fact, a filmmaker like Ram who is always stuck with the offbeat and unconventional themes has taken a leap into this genre as well. With the film hitting screens tomorrow, we bring an exclusive references of few such films based on IT love stories.
Cinematographer Ravi Varman made his debut directorial with this film in 2010, which happens to be a love story of this terrain. The film starred Rahul Ravindran and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles… Although the film didn’t perform well in box office, it had those elements that were reflecting the IT industry and the contemporary youngsters.
This was a voguish love story with the same backdrops made in 2012. The film was directed by Andrew Louis and featured handsome and beautiful models Shiv Pandit and Manasi Parekh in lead roles. The film had some best songs composed by Satish Chakravarthy and it was a decent reception in spite of limited release due to the multiplex audiences receiving it well.
Yaaradi Nee Mohini
In fact, this was the pioneer of this genre before all the movies that took off with this trend. Selvaraghavan made this film in Telugu and then remade it here as Yaaradi Nee Mohini. The film starred Dhanush and Nayantara in lead roles and the entire first half was completely involving the drama of IT industry, the conflicts and hurdles involved there.
Idhu Namma Aalu
While these earlier three movies were made during the initial times of IT industry developed here, STR’s Idhu Namma Aalu has a prologue that speaks about the ups and down of an IT guy or gal. But then, the film’s major concept is about the love story between a guy and girl with a professional background in this field.
Oru Naal Koothu
Filmmaker Nelson Venkatesan’s Oru Naal Koothu traverses through three different parallel stories. One set against the sub-urban backdrops another one at FM Station. The final one was with Attakathi Dinesh and Nivetha Pethuraj in the IT office, where equal prominence was shown up there.
