\Amidst huge fanfare, the audio launch of ‘Mersal’ happened last evening; this becomes an intense moment of celebrations all over the places. Starring Vijay, Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha and Nithya Menen in lead roles, the film has musical score by AR Rahman and lyrics penned by Vivek. The album of ‘Mersal’ comprises of four tracks and Top 10 Cinema brings you a sneak peek of analysis on them.
The song had already made an impactful essence in every music listener. The beauty of Tamil culture has been very well written and has been greatly vivified. Moreover, it’s been a long time, we happened to get a full-fledged folk music from AR Rahman. This is greatly awe-inspiring as the percussions, instrumentals and the variations in tempo just commute us to a different world. It is obvious that the visuals are going to be more enthralling than what we have been experiencing with the music now.
Singers: AR Rahman, Shreya Ghoshal
A very slow paced melody that takes its own time to get us soaked. This song released as single track has been slowly grasping into our senses. For sure, it stands out to be one of the best melodies from AR Rahman. The portions involving Shreya Ghoshal are heavenly and the instrumentals during interludes are beautifully done. AR Rahman with his dualistic voice effect offers the melodic touch. The ending of song with veena and mild chords are very well done.
Singers: Naresh Iyer, Vishwa Prasadh, G.V. Prakash Kumar, Sharanya Srinivas
One would have never imagined that AR Rahman would just pop up a surprise with a ‘Local Mass Kuthu number’. With his recent albums loaded with western and classical genres. This is going to turn the theatres on with an incredible celebration for we will have a treat after some decades from Rahman like ‘Petta Rap’ and such limited numbers. GV Prakash along with his bunch of singers has done the best for this number, which will surely get the best scores in theatres. For the moment, Ilayathalapathy Vijay fans must be getting irresistibly brimming up to get the mania unleashed.
Singers: Sid Sriram and Shweta Mohan
One of the yesteryear styles of AR Rahman that he would compose such numbers for the Dancing Kings. This is precisely one such illustration, where he encompasses with voguish and classical elements. The choice of singers of Sid Sriram and Shweta Mohan are spellbinding, especially with the former one making it more splendid. It would have been better if AR Rahman had found a replacement for Shweta Mohan to match up with the panache of Sid Sriram. One speciality about the song is that any other music director would leave the percussions for such number overshadow other instrumentals and vocalisms. But here, the beat remains so much mild and soft throughout the song. AR Rahman is always known for his bass, fill-ins and sound mixing, which is completely available here.
As on whole, Mersal album has just four tracks, but AR Rahman has exerted the best of his efforts appealing to the masses, especially for Vijay fans. Every song is based on different genres and it will surely engross everyone.
Verdict : Magnetizing package from ARR-Vijay combo
