Vijay Sethupathi-Tanya Ravichandran starrer Karuppan is a pure rural commercial drama. The film is directed by Panneer Selvam (18 Vayasu, Renigunta fame) and is produced by Aishwarya of Shri Sai Ram Creations. D Imman has been successful with his rural based albums, which are highly appreciated. Let us have a look on what’s the best pick of his latest outing ‘Karuppan’.
Karuva Karuva Payale
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan, Shashaa Tripati
A medium paced cute duet featuring Shankar Mahadevan and Shashaa Tripati, which has a complete folk touch. This isn’t something new from D Imman has we have already experience sumptuous scores of this genre from him. The song also slightly reminds us off a similar song from Vishal-Sri Divya starrer ‘Marudhu’. But, this song will have its best appeal with the visuals.
Singer: Pradeep Kumar
A double Thumbs Up for the song and this melody possesses us like slow poison. A beautifully composed number that has everything in a perfect synchronization among the clarity of vocalism, instrumentals and lyrical substantiality… More than anything, it’s Pradeep Kumar ruling the show with a lovely resplendent voice. It looks like he has stepped out of his routine melodies and has tried something different. This is going to be a special number in his career list as playback singer.
Singer: Benny Dayal
Just as mentioned in the first track, this one too resembles some of the erstwhile composing of D Imman. The song has done justice to its every department, but it remains to be an ordinary track as there is nothing really special about sound. Benny Dayal doesn’t need any introduction for his crooning style, especially for the song of this panache. A normal track that will be a pleasant one for the audiences to watch Vijay Sethupathi on the screens.
Murukku Meesa Maama
Singers: Diwakar, Anitha Venkat
The song looks like an intentionally imposed track into the screenplay as we aren’t able to sense where the placement could be. Certain portions in the song give an impression of Vijay Sethupathi winning over a particular situation and pulling the legs of baddie. This isn’t something run off the mill number and might be offering some fun with the dance of Vijay Sethupathi.
Singer: Ananya Bhat
After Azhagazhaga, this number instantly picks your attention. A very well rendered song in terms of musical composing and vocalizing impacts. This stands out to be completely in style from rest of the numbers. Ananya Bhat just sweeps us off the feet with her highly volatile vocalism. Such an emotional number that will definitely picked as a favourite song by many aspiring singers at contests and reality shows to express the depth of their vocals.
On the whole, D Imman has made a decent package with ‘Karuppan’ album, especially Azhagazhaga and Usure Usure leaves us in deep state of attunement with the songs. Rest of the songs is passably good, which will have better results with the visuals.
Verdict : Decent and best work by D Imman
