While Bollywood getting the best dose of publicities for its promotional qualities, it’s actually Tamil cinema that has carved an extraordinary niche with innovativeness. Here is one such illustration, where a theatre planned its promotions for a film that would have not struck anyone’s attention.

It all happened during the release of Kumki, where S V Ram Theater in Dharapuram planned a mammoth promotion. Since, the film is based mainly on an ‘Kumki’ elephant, the theatre brought up a real life elephant. It turned to be the cynosure of entire town, where the crowds thronged more to see the elephant, which made the film indeed more popular there. The film successfully completed 31 day run in theatres.

Adding yet information is that S V Ram Theater was a single screen at that point of time. Now it has become a multiplex named SVR Visuals with 3 screens. It has also been felicitated with awards as one of the best multiplexes in India.
