During the ancient times, we used to find that the background score was recorded right on the shooting spot. We would find the orchestra placed exactly beside camera and during the sequences would play the music, which gets recorded live. Then came the technology of recording in studio. In other way, the dialogues were dubbed again with high clarity in studios during post-production works.

But to bring the exact feel of conversation among the characters in the film, the technology called ‘Sync-Recording’ in other words ‘Live Recording’. Kamal Haasan became the first one in Indian film industry to use this technology for the film ‘Virumaandi’.

It was immediately used by Maniratnam in his ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’, which was released in next three months from Virumandi release. Nevertheless, we guess that Live Recording using Boom Mikes were used only for few portions in Aayutha Ezhuthu.
