Bhaskar the Rascal happens to be one of the top celebrated commercial comedy entertainer in Malayalam industry. The film is now remade in Tamil as ‘Bhaskar Oru Rascal’ directed by same filmmaker Siddiqui with Arvind Swamy and Amala Paul in lead roles. Amrish has composed music for this film.
Amma I Love You
Singer: Shreya Ghoshal and Baby Sreya
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
A simple amalgamation of beats and mild instrumentals that come well presented with Shreya Ghoshal and Baby Sreya… Amrish gives a neat work through his musical components that doesn’t try to dominate the vocalisms. Shreya Ghosal’s sustaining voice is so much mellisonant and Baby Sreya voice is so much appealing. The lyrical lines by Pa. Vijay come well packaged with lyrical lines.
Bhaskar Oru Rasucolu
The song has its own punch of commercial ingredients and what we need to notice and appreciate the rhythm work of Amrish. It would have been better if Amrish had opted for a singer like STR to croon it. The fun-filled number might have montage visuals in the movie. The percussions in the rhythmic accompaniment are appropriate.
Thookanangoodu Adhil Tolet Board
Singer: Krish and Vandana Srinivasan
A romantic duet that has a unique touch, but somewhere it misses to gain our attention. But it remains to be a much mediocre number, where computerization of voices looks unwanted, but Amrish keeps emphasizing on it throughout the song. It is not easily noticeable that it is actually Krish crooning the number.
Ippodhu Yen Indha Kadhal
Singers: Karthik and Andrea Jeremiah
Lyrics: Madhan Karky
A breezy number should have been the motive of Amrish and he tries to give a good touch to his possibilities. The interludes and preludes are exquisitely composed with elegance. Amrish has done a neat job choosing the right kind of singers – Karthik and Andrea Jeremiah. The lyrical lines by Madan Karky are impressive for its casual and simplistic lyrics.
Bhaskar Oru Rascal – Theme Song
The theme song is just one minute 10 seconds in duration and it has a regular commercial ingredient that it actually demands. We have already listened to this track with the film’s trailer and it gets more appropriate with visuals than listening to it as a song in the list. The distorted guitars and percussions give an exact feel.
When it comes to overall assessment, Amrish has tried giving his best. But it would have been nice if he had tried avoiding the computerization of voices. Moreover, the songs are so youthful, which might not be easily related to Arvind Swamy. Maybe, it could get well with the film’s visuals.
Verdict : Decent work by Amrish
