Following her directorial debut through ‘Vanakkam Chennai’, filmmaker Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi is all set for next release ‘Kaali’ starring Vijay Antony and Anjali in lead roles. Here is the exclusive musical analysis of this album that comprises of four songs.
Singers: Nivas and Janaki Iyer
The song gives a straight and good reminiscence of Vijay Antony’s yesteryear Chartbuster hit ‘Molachu Moonu’ from Velayudham. Nivas and Janaki Iyer are the absolute showstoppers out here, who give an excellent rendition with their best efforts. The interludes sound slightly in the prototyped style of Vijay Antony, but it is pretty impressive overall.
When it comes to songs based on motherly sentiments, Vijay Antony always manages to score brownie points letting us emotionally inclined to it. Such songs from his stores go beyond analysis or dissecting the musical components and vocalisms. Over here, the stringed elements are so much adhered to the track from beginning till the end. Nivas has emoted very well through the intonating style, where he doesn’t miss even a single minute detailing that enhances the song to a greater magnitude.
Singers: Hemachandra and Sangeetha Rajeshwaran
Nothing really special about the song as it conveys a stereotypical paradigm of his routine style. Even the song composing has the same structure including the techno beats that we hear on the rhythmic accompaniment, which makes no different. But the singers Hemachandra and Sangeetha Rajeshwaran try to give their best.
Impeccably best of his kind, where Vijay Antony spells an incredulous work of orchestral package here. The song is shorter in duration, but it involves lots of appreciable elements with the instrumental portions. On his part, Deepak too has rendered with complete involvement.
Overall, the songs in Kaali are somewhat okay, but we tend to miss the trademark style of Vijay Antony that used to have really brilliant tunes. Except for Arumbey, most of them are just a mediocre one.
Verdict: Vijay Antony’s musical score sticks to the middling scale.
