Direction: Badri Venkatesh
Production: Kickass Entertainment
Cast: Atharvaa, Mishti, Anaika Soti
Cinematography: Gopi Amarnath
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Atharvaa Murali’s first movie as a producer and also being together for the second movie with Badri Venkatesh after ‘Baana Kaathaadi’, this movie is hyped with so much action themed teasers and promos. Whether the actor with producer avatar will have a super duper hit?
Committing mistake by a drunken youngster(Ramesh), he gets involved in a problem such that it makes him to travel and find out the truth behind the mistake he has committed. Whether Ramesh will sort it out? Or will he gets more trouble because of the mistake done is broken in the climax of this movie.
Just like every thriller movie in Tamil Cinema, Badri Venkatesh has scripted such that, Atharvaa gets trouble with a murder in which he is an innocent. He travels from there to investigate what and who is the reason behind the murder. The director has heated up with the confusion whether it can be conveyed with comedy or with action and has missed few of the logic factors. However Karunakaran’s comedy sequences with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score has filled those slips. On one hand, comedy portion with the serious sequence and on the other hand with the complete action sequence, the engagement of scenes has tipped down here and there whereas it is balanced by Gopi Amarnath’s cinematography. If the lag is managed in the second half of the movie, it would have been still more interesting than the actual one.
Without commenting on this movie’s importance in Atharvaa’s career, it is well understood that he has gained so much maturity and he has put so much sweat on both action and comedy sequences. Having similarity like Mahima Nambiyar, Mishti doesn’t have such importance and weight in her character. Boiling the blood of the audience in the beginning scenes, Anaika Soti remains silent then after in the movie. Karunakaran’s comedy can be mentioned as one of the uplifting aspects to laugh then and there whereas John Vijay, Mano Bala, Prince Nithik, M S Baskar are playing supporting roles in less sequences. The purpose for making Actor Vishal’s father G K Reddy to act in this movie will be known only to the producer.
2.Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score.
What doesn’t work?
On the whole, ‘Semma Botha Aagathey’ can be watched without having any expectations and without thinking about the power packed action filled trailer and promo. This movie may not win hearts but for comedy sequences with twists then and there, it can be affirmed as an entertainer.
Verdict : One time watch for entertainment and it would have been much better if screenplay doesn’t have any trembles in the second half.
Ratings : 4/10
