How many movies to celebrate this weekend?

‘Seemaraja’, ‘U Turn’, ‘Manmarziyan’ and ‘The Predator’ are lined up to release on screens this week.

Generally giving a brief note of the releases every week, this week has celebration of 4 much awaited movies with the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi. The movies can be listed as follows –

1) ‘Seemaraja’ – After ‘Varthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam’ and ‘Rajini Murugan’, Director Ponram and Siva Karthikeyan’s teaming up in ‘Seemaraja’ is associated with the bankrolling of R D Raja’s ’24 AM Studios’. Having colorful village background just like ‘Varthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam’ and ‘Rajini Murugan’, this movie involves Siva Karthikeyan and Samantha in lead roles. Along with them, the actors like Napoleon, Simran Bagga, Soori, Lal, Yogi Babu, Manobala, Charandeep, Surjith Ansary, NK Krishan, Nishi, K. S. Ravikumar and Rishikanth are playing important roles in this movie. Next to ‘Remo’ and ‘Velaikkaran’, SK’s association with R D Raja is stated to continue in ‘Seemaraja’ falling in the genres of ‘Varthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam’ and ‘Rajini Murugan’. Releasing worldwide on September 13th i.e., on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi, the screening of ‘Seemaraja’ will be happening in more than 400 theatres.

2) ‘U Turn’ – Remade from Kannada ‘U Turn’ starring Shraddha Srinath as the main lead, Director Pawan Kumar has involved his good friend and actress Samantha for reprising Shraddha’s role in Tamil and Telugu remake of ‘U Turn’. Jointly produced by Srinivasa Chitturi and Rambabu Bandaru’s ‘BR8 Creations’, ‘V. Y. Combines’ and ‘Srinivasa Silver Screen’, ‘U Turn’ involves Samantha with Aadhi Pinisetty, Rahul Ravindran, Bhumika Chawla, ‘Aadukalam’ Naren and Narain as supporting characters. Music and background for this horror thriller is composed by Poorna Chandra Tejaswi the promo song which is viral with Samantha’s peppy dance moves, is composed by Anirudh.

When Pawan Kumar explained about the movie in the recent press meet, he said, “When Kannada trailer of ‘U Turn’ got released, Samantha has questioned me that why I didn’t choose her for this movie in spite of knowing her very well. Continued after that, I have fulfilled her wish to act in Tamil and Telugu remake.”

Having 2 of her movies (‘Seemaraja’ and ‘U Turn’) releasing on the same day, Samantha seems to have a special Ganesh Chathurthi this year.

3) ‘Manmarziyaan’ – Written by ‘Om Shanti Om’ fame Kanika Dhillon and directed by Anurag Kashyap, ‘Manmarziyaan’ aka ‘Husband Material’ which is produced under the banners of ‘Colour Yellow Productions’ and ‘Phantom Films’ in association with Aanand L. Rai, Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Anurag Kashyap, will be hitting on screens by September 14th. Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Ashnoor Kaur, Akshay Arora and Pavan Malhotra, ‘Manmarziyaan’ is stated to be a romantic comedy drama portraying feelings of three different people travelling in the same stream of life and love. With the fabulous musical strings of Amit Trivedi and lyrics penned by Shellee and Sikander Khalon, the entire album has been rounding with great humming all around B-Town. After premiering the movie at 43rd annual Toronto International Film Festival on September 8th, ‘Manmarziyaan’ is ready to hit the screens worldwide on September 14th.

4) ‘The Predator’ – Starring Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes and Yvonne Strahovski, ‘The Predator’ (2018)/Predator 4 is directed by ‘Iron man 3’ fame Shane Black and produced under the banner of John Davis’s ‘Davis Entertainment’. Recognized as the fourth part of Jim Thomas and John Thomas’s science fiction series ‘Predator’, ‘The Predator’ (2018) was premiered at 43rd annual Toronto International Film Festival on September 8th. Having formats of visuals in I MAX and Dolby Cinemas, the cinematography of this sci-fi action film is handled by Larry Fong and editing is done by Harry B. Miller and Billy Weber. Background score is composed by Henry Jackman. Distributed by 20th Century Fox, ‘The Predator’ will be hitting on screens by September 14th worldwide.

It is expected that two much expected movies in Tamil to release on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi and the remaining two movies which became well recognized by premiering at Toronto International Film Festival, will add up the festive bliss for celebrating this weekend.
