With the different looks of Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma in the trailer, ‘Sui Dhaaga (Made In India)’ directed by Sharat Katariya, has been expected widely in the view that it will be about a middle class, tailor with his wife who helps him for becoming successful after great struggles.
Opening with the getting ready scene of Mauji (Varun Dhawan) who has married Mamta (Anushka Sharma) and manages to take care of the routine of his family with his old parents by forgetting his grandfather’s tailoring business and moving on with the hard works in a sewing machine store. Being ill-treated and tired with buttering his boss, Mauji decides to resign the job and get back to his ancestral business once again by understanding the embarrassment faced by his family because of the bullying boss. Getting help from his smart wife, he starts up his business in the bazaar street. All of a sudden Mauji’s mom falls sick and is advised to get operated immediately. Having many objections even though he has good talent, how he manages to achieve to be successful as a tailor? How Mamta helps him to be successful? What does he face? How he overcomes even if his parents don’t support his aim? ‘Needle and Thread’ will make the remaining climax in the movie!
With the good cast and perfect performance, ‘Sui Dhaaga (Made in India)’ is actually a great family drama after a long gap by getting enlisted in the quality Bollywood drama movies. With no makeup, absolute costumes and apt locations, Sharat Katariya’s screenplay is clear and properly scripted with an awesome dialogue “Sab badhiya hai” setting as a trend in the present like ‘Aal Izzzzz Well’ in ‘3 Idiots’.
Being ambitious and very skillful, Varun has performed by understanding the character of ‘Mauji’ exactly. Nevertheless Anushka, who has acted in the role where she hardly spends time with her husband and spends most of the time running with the routine of her middle class family with no makeup, she has amazed with her natural beauty and performance. Namit Das, even though he has acted for shorter sequences in this movie, he has absolutely awesome by being part effortlessly. Being old and as a helpless dad, Raghuvir Yadav has played the vital role by presenting the role of a scared father who has less hope for his son to be successful.
Apart from all those, the music and background music of Anu Malik and Andrea Guerra respectively has been the important pillars of this movie. The cinematography of Anil Mehta is just brilliant on screens with colorful visuals of a middle class family by portraying the practical problems. However at some instances it seems like over crying of Anushka is without purpose and it also feels like editing must have still more trimmed without the lags because of the slow second half.
On the whole, ‘Sui Dhaaga’ is the best family drama with slight romance and emotions to watch on screens this week with a quality cast and performance.
‘Sui Dhaaga (Made in India) is a tribute to the great, unsung tailors and designers in the rural regions of India.
