How many movies to drench up this rainy week?

The movies ‘Sei’, ‘Vandi’, ‘Pattinapakkam’, ‘Karimugan’, ‘Karthikeyanum Kaanamal Pona Kadhaliyum’, ‘Semmari Aadu’ and ‘Robin Hood’ are releasing on screens this week.

Usually with the listing of movies releasing in theatres every week, this week has release of 7 movies. They can be lined up as follows –

1) ‘Sei’ –

Previously directing few Malayalam movies, director Raj Babu is steeped into Kollywood as the debut director through ‘Sei’. Involving Nakul as the main lead, the Bollywood actress Aanchal Munjal pairs up with him. Along with them, Prakash Raj seems to have played the important role in this movie. With the bankrolling of ‘Trippy Turtle Productions’, ‘Sei’ has been finally ready to hit the screens this week after many postponements. Music composed by NyX Lopez, the camera for ‘Sei’ is handled by Vijay Ulaganath who had worked as cinematographer in ‘Thoonga Nagaram’, ‘Sigaram Thodu’ and many other movies.

2) ‘Vandi’ –

Bankrolled under the banner of Hasheer’s ‘Ruby Films’, ‘Vandi’ is directed by the debut director Rajeesh Bala. Having Vidharth and Chandini Tamilarasan in lead roles, this action thriller also involves John Vijay, Arul Doss, Chinnu Kuruvilla, Vijith, Kishore Kumar and few other actors. Revolving with the story about purse/chain snatching, Vidharth has stated earlier in a press meet that working on ‘Vandi’ was a unique experience because the story has ‘bike’ as the main subject such that some of the scenes were shot with 4 cameras. Music is composed by ‘Solo’ fame Sooraj S Kurup. Cinematography is handled by Ragesh Narayanan whereas Editing is done by Rizaal Jainy.

3) ‘Pattinapakkam’ –

With the cast of Kalaiyarasan, Anaswara Kumar, Chaya Singh, Manoj K. Jayan, Yog Japee, John Vijay, Charlie and M S Bhaskar, ‘Pattinapakkam’ is directed by brother of actress Bhavana, Jayadev. Bankrolled by Rohit Roy Mulamoottil’s ‘Mulamoottil Productions’, the music for this romantic – action thriller is composed by Ishaan Dev. Cinematography and Editing is done by Raana and Athul Vijay respectively. Art Direction is supervised by Mohan Mahendiran.

4) ‘Karimugan’ –

Popular by singing the song, “Chinna Machan…” through ‘Super Singer’, Senthil Ganesh plays the lead role whereas Kerala origin Gayathri pairs up with Senthil. Directed by Chella Thangaiah who has written the lyrics for “Chinna Machan…”, ‘Karimugan’ also involves Vincent Roy, Bhava Lakshmanan and Vijay Ganesh in the prominent roles, ‘Karimugan’ is stated to have the story making connection with unknown people and how they overcome the situation.

5) ‘Karthikeyanum Kaanamal Pona Kadhaliyum’ –

Produced by ‘Twinkle Labs’ and directed by debut director M A Bala, ‘Karthikeyanum Kaanamal Pona Kadhaliyum’ involves Deepak, ‘Black’ Pandi, S S Jayasindh, Haritha and Malar play the important roles whereas Kottachi, Madhumitha, Hema and Mahesh has acted in supporting roles. Music is composed by Raj Bharath. David John has handled cinematography for this movie. Travelling for finding his girlfriend which ends up Karthikeyan in different consequences, ‘Karthikeyanum Kaanamal Pona Kadhaliyum’ stated to have an interesting story.

6) ‘Semmari Aadu’ –

Bankrolled by ‘Paisa Creations’, Satish Subramanyam has directed and acted in ‘Semmari Aadu’ which involves the sentiments and love for parents with the musical composition of Renjith Vasudev. Cinematography is handled by Jayprakash.

7) ‘Robin Hood’ –

Directed by Otto Bathurst and produced under the banners of ‘Summit Entertainment’, ‘Appian Way Productions’, ‘Safehouse Pictures’ and ‘Thunder Road Films’, the adventurous action film ‘Robin Hood’ involves Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin, Jamie Dornan, F. Murray Abraham and many other actors. Cinematography is handled by George Steel and editing is done by Joe Hutshing and Chris Barwell. Written by Ben Chandler and David James Kelly, ‘Robin Hood’ is based on the adventurous tale of ‘Robin Hood’.
