In the recent trend of making movies with huge budget and grand sets these days, Malayalam film makers still maintain the technique of utilizing their own natural features with the view of lakes, boats, coconut trees and rain. Adding up emotions with idea of love and family, this ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ seems to be very famous not only in boundaries within God’s own country but also in Tamilnadu as well.

Frankie (Mathew Thomas) returns to home from his hostel for a holiday with great hesitation such that he knew the situation of his brothers Saji, Bonny and Bobby who remain endlessly by fighting with each other without any responsibility and even without a proper house for living. On the other hand, Shammi (Fahadh Faasil) is the bright new, good looking, barber groom of Simmy’s (Grace Antony) house who serves in the position of Simmy’s dad in taking major decisions of house who has passed away before few years and lives with an old mother in law and his young sister in law, Baby. Baby falls in love with her childhood crush, Bobby incidentally when she meets him once again due to her friend’s love interest. Since there is no responsibility and with no good qualification, Bobby is denied for the marriage proposal when it comes in person officially to Shammi. However due to situations Saji, Bonny and Bobby held into proper positions correcting with whatever reasons were put forth to the marriage proposal was denied by Shammi such that they try approaching to Shammi once again. What will be the climax? Why Shammi is very adamant and taking advantage of no men in his wife’s house? Will ‘Bobby weds Baby’ dream come true? The action filled fun nights of ‘Kumbalangi’ reveals the remaining story!

With the neat screenplay and with the simple story, this film will never bore even in one fraction of second since cinematography and obviously the locations has been the important pillars of this simple story. The idea of having the end credits in the beginning of the movie is beneficial even if we enter the screens very late in one way but on a serious note it is respectable for prioritising the entire crew, the story seems to be very light and feel good types with the soothing background score and light songs of Sushin Shyam till the end.

Coming to the characters, except Fahad Faasil and Soubin Shahir, every other actor seems to be very new on screens in this movie. However the cute romance of ‘Bobby and Baby’ (Shane Nigam and Anna Ben), the guilty innocence of the versatile actor Soubin Shahir as Saji, the elder one, ‘To Let’ girl Sheela as losing her husband (Ramesh Thilak) for no reason, Ramesh Thilak, the TV face Sreenath Bhasi, the foreigner and lover girl of ‘Bobby’ Jasmine Metivier and the remaining other actors have performed brilliantly throughout. Somehow we get our thrilled throats very much shivered with the performance of Fahad from the beginning of his presence on screen, it will be definitely unbelievable for everyone to see him perform like a psychic person in the climax (Hushhhhh.. No spoilers!).

On the whole, ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ is a feel good and light movie which intimates absolutely no complications on family, relationship and living!

‘Kumbalangi Nights’ will fulfill the hearts with a well lit simple story of ‘four bio-non bio brothers’!
