How many movies are going to pour out in the box office collection this week?

‘Kanchana 3: Muni 4’, ‘Mehandi Circus’, ‘Vellai Pookal’ and ‘Kalank’ are the four movies releasing on screens this week.

Usually lining up the number of movie releases every week, this week has many grand and much awaited movies to be flown on screens with a brand new set of genres. So the numbers of movies which are hitting the theatres are as follows –

1) ‘Kanchana 3: Muni 4’ –

Directed by Raghava Lawrence and produced under the banners of ‘Sun Pictures’ and ‘Raghavendra Productions’, the third part of ‘Kanchana’ has been board for almost 3 years after 2015 whereas Lawrence has been busy with the movies like ‘Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva’ and ‘Shivalinga’ which has been released by 2017. Involving the cast with Oviya, Vedhika, Kovai Sarala, Kabir Duhan Singh, Manobala, Sriman, Devadarshini, Sathyaj, Kishore and former Australian Cricket player Dirk Nannes, Lawrence plays the lead role as usual. Releasing on April 19th i.e., on the next day of Lok Sabha elections, ‘Kanchana 3: Muni 4’ is much expected on screens this week.

Cinematography is handled by Vetri for this horror film whereas music is composed by S S Thaman.

2) ‘Mehandi Circus’ –

Directed by the debut director Saravanaa Rajendran, who is also the elder brother of ‘Cuckoo’, ‘Joker’ movie fame director Raju Murugan, ‘Mehandi Circus’ has been bankrolled by K E Gnanavelraja’s ‘Studio Green’ with the musical composition of Sean Roldan. However the teaser of ‘Mehandi Circus’ and songs has already created the nostalgia of the romance in 1990s, ‘Mehandi Circus’ will be releasing in screens on April 19th clashing with Raghava Lawrence’s ‘Kanchana 3: Muni 4’ and Vivekh starrer ‘Vellai Pookal’. Released with the distribution rights acquired by ‘Sakthi Film Factory’, cinematography and editing of this romantic film is done by Selvakumar S K and Philomeinraj respectively.

3) ‘Vellai Pookal’ –

Directed by a full time ‘Microsoft’ techie, Vivek Elangovan and produced by Indian tech expats in US those who owns Media/Performance Arts Group ‘Indus Creations’ tying up with streaming platform ‘Tentkotta’, ‘Vellai Pookal’ is a thriller which seems to have ‘Padma Shri’ actor and activist Vivekh as a retired police officer who comes across back to back deaths of his neighbors when he stays with his son and daughter-in-law during his old age. Along with Vivekh, the film stars Charle, ‘Mayakkam Enna’ fame Pooja Devariya, Dev and Hollywood actress Paige Henderson in the prominent roles. With the musical composition of Ramgopal Krishnaraju, this thriller which has the prominent locations of USA majorly has the cinematography and editing handled by Jerald Peter and Praveen K L respectively.

Having the banner of ‘Trident Arts’ for distributing with the official theatrical rights, ‘Vellai Pookal’ is releasing worldwide on April 19th.

4) ‘Kalank’ -

Known for directing blockbuster films like ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘My Name Is Khan’, ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘2 States’ previously, Director Abhishek Varman has involved Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sanjay Dutt for the prominent roles in the film ‘Kalank’. Stated to have been made with the budget of 80 crores, ‘Kalank’ has the guest appearances of actresses Kiara Advani in one song and Kriti Sanon in another peppy dance number. Bankrolled under the banners of ‘Fox Star Studios’, Karan Johar’s ‘Dharma Productions’ and ‘Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment’, the grand movie is hitting the screens on April 17th with the cinematography and editing of Binod Pradhan and Shweta Venkat Mathew respectively. Songs composed by Pritam, background scoring for this period drama has been done by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara. Much expected because of the songs, set designs and elegant period type costumes; ‘Kalank’ has the songs which has the lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
