As the second part of the film ‘Manmadhudu’ which had been directed by K Vijaya Bhaskar and released in the year 2002, ‘Manmadhudu 2’ directed by Rahul Ravindran was very much expected on screens due to the interesting teasers by revealing with the contrast characters of Nagarjuna and Rakul Preet Singh. Let us see how this rom-com had worked on the screens after release!

Samba Siva Rao who is normally called ‘Sam’ is an aged bachelor and a perfumer by profession is forced to get married by his orthodox Telugu family (mom ‘Lakshmi’ & 3 sisters ‘Jhansi, Devadarshini, Nishanthi’) such that as a rescue plan he finds Avantika (Rakul Preet Singh) to help him by acting as a fiancé and dump him in the marriage day for the sake of making his family stop bothering him for having a companion. Rakul who wanted to have her deceased sister's son with her which will be possible only with a lump sum bank balance which was obligatory as per Portuguese rules also accepts for the conditions of Sam and does the same. Unexpectedly, Sam’s mom gets collapsed emotionally due to Avantika’s abscond such that she recovers from her cardiac arrest only with the presence of Avantika. Sam then asks Avantika to work on Plan B to break the emotional bonding with his family whereas he falls in love with her which can be done nothing because of the age difference and other additional reasons. What happens next? Why Sam doesn’t want to get married? Will Avantika execute Plan B and move away from Sam’s family? Will Sam’s family start hating Avantika and calls off the marriage? Or will Avantika fall in love with Sam? Will she get her nephew is the story of ‘Manmadhudu 2’!

Very fresh with the locations, costumes and actors, Director Rahul Ravindran had recreated the French film ‘Prête-moi ta main’ (I Do) as ‘Manmadhudu 2’ in which every element was seemed funny and entertaining with the neat screenplay. Having locations and characters playing on the story in dominance, the cinematography of M. Sukumar and editing of Chota K. Prasad & Bonthala Nageswar Reddy seemed very neat. However, the songs seemed so less compared to the perfect scale of background score, the performance of the actors had hidden away all much slight minuses.

Coming to the performance part, the film is carried to the next level only by the performances of Nagarjuna, Rakul Preet Singh (who comes little late in the film) and the best comedy performance of Vennela Kishore as Sam’s PA. As a caring and aged mom, Lakshmi and as 2 elder sisters (Jhansi & Devadharshini) and a younger sister (Nishanthi), they had performed well by supporting the lead characters. However as an uncle of ‘Sam’, Rao Ramesh remains to be an obstruction with over-exaggeration in the character he had owed, the cameo appearances of Keerthy Suresh as ‘Suma’ in the character of Sam’s ex-girlfriend, Samantha as a person who attempts suicide, Akshara Gowda as a fling of Sam and Brahmanandam who gives a slight touch to the first part, had performed their parts well.

On the whole, ‘Manmudhudu 2’ is a ‘pakka’ fun-filled family entertainer which will absolutely make the audience to blast out laughter on screens.

‘Manmudhudu 2’ is a funny & unfashionable culture of love developed for/in the traditional family!
