Anyhow historic films like ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Baahubali’, ‘Baahubali 2’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Padmaavat’, ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’ and many other legendary are coming out to astonish us one in a while with the grand making and set of actors, let us see how ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’, the story of the first freedom fighter from Andhra borders, had worked out on screens!
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (Chiranjeevi) is a king from Uyyalawada who had been striving to push away the fear of British rule from the minds of his people from the motherland. On the other hand, he falls in love with a dancer Lakshmi (Tamannaah) whom he encourages to show her talent by spreading message-oriented play with her dance whereas he gets to know about his child-marriage with Siddhamma (Nayanthara) after giving a commitment to Lakshmi. However, he had been facing many betrayals from his neighboring states when he approaches for support to withstand the strong British morons for ill-treating people with severe punishments and by hiking taxes, how he stands still and put forth the pride to save our motherland from the clutches of arrogant British rule by being strong without fear is the courageous story of ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’!
Starting off with the narration of Anushka Shetty as Laxmi Bai of Jhansi, the story seemed to be a powerful patriotism arising story once Chiranjeevi enters into the screen with his character ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. Having all serious plots aside, the first half also involves love track with Tamannaah and also with Nayanthara as a slight touch to the commercial elements with more of stunts. Making all plots with interesting stunts, stunning art direction and with the vast cast, the script of Surender Reddy had been drastically raising questions about ‘What’s next?’! Apart from that, the background score of Julius Packiam and the songs of Amit Trivedi had added more beauty for the visuals captured by Cinematographer R Rathnavelu. The only feel of the length is known in the second half because of the long stunts which could have been much better if it had been trimmed in the editing.
Coming to the performance part, Chiranjeevi had proved that ‘this is what the comeback should be like for a ‘Megastar’!’ The dialogue delivery, with action and body languages like being a King and showing off his patriotism, Chiranjeevi had just lived with the title character. As his Guru/Teacher, Amitabh Bachchan had been actually doing a short but matured role by provoking more hope to ‘Sye Raa’ and with powerful dialogues. As a dancer and as a love interest Tamannaah, as a supportive and sweet wife Nayanthara, Sudeep as a competitive King for a neighboring state, Anushka Shetty as a Queen of Jhansi, Jagapathi Babu as a trust-worthy friend and as a King from a neighboring state, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy as Sye Raa’s mother last but not least Vijay Sethupathi as ‘Raja Pandi’ had performed their roles well.
On the whole, ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is a grand tribute and patriotism provoking film which falls as the latest one on the list of all other patriotic films and national leaders/freedom fighters of India!
‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ had been/is a powerful voice for Independence from Southern states of India!
