After a long wait, finally this romantic thriller ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thota’ got released this week such that everybody is waiting to see the work of the much exciting combo of GVM and Dhanush even after a great delay. Let us see how this film had worked on screens!

Raghu (Dhanush) falls in love with Lekha (Megha Akash) who is forced to become an actress while she comes for shooting in Raghu’s college. Very deeply in love, they both date in spite of Lekha’s pressure on her life and her ‘Producer cum Sponsor’ tortures. In one instance, Lekha leaves Raghu and goes away from him even after his parents’ approval for their marriage. All of a sudden, after cutting off all communications after she left, Lekha rings up Raghu for helping her out from a crisis where she is guarded by his ‘long ago’ gone elder brother Thiru (Sasi Kumar) in Mumbai. However, for finding out what is wrong with Lekha and to bring his brother Thiru who was missing 14 years ago to his family, Raghu goes to Mumbai. How he goes? What happens to Lekha? What happens to Thiru? What makes Lekha, Thiru, and Raghu to get connected? Why Lekha has left Raghu? All these questions get answered in the climax of ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thota’!

Having a fresh romance and also some cute moments, Gautham Vasudev Menon’s writing has worked out in the first half which is prominently connectable to the present trend of youth. Especially songs of Darbuka Siva have helped so much to visualize and feel the romance. Coming to the second half of the film, the screenplay was very inappropriate when compared to the first half and had over-exaggeration with a complete voice-over of Dhanush throughout. Usual story with a very dramatic love with action and music is all about ‘ENPT’. Also, the cinematography and editing also seemed decent throughout with tidbits of strong Gautham Vasudev Menon’s touch!

We all knew what Dhanush’s performance is! We can’t deny that there is a lag or an imperfection in his performance. He has played well mainly during romance and emotional scenes. As a newcomer, Megha Akash has attempted well and also looked gorgeous (maybe because it is ‘GVM’s film’ and heroines always look pretty). Like a big shot and as a terrible torturer, Senthil Veerasamy, as a best friend to ‘Raghu’, Sunaina and as a brother to ‘Raghu’, Sasi Kumar has acted well.

What works?

1) Dhanush’s performance

2) First half

3) Darbuka Siva’s music and cinematography

What doesn’t work?

1) Constant narration with voice over

2) Not having a fulfilling screenplay

3) Sasi Kumar’s character

On the whole, ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thota’ is not the best of GVM’s film but had a few good elements which gave a peek-a-boo of his style with lots of action and romance!

Verdict: The bullet has slightly missed from the expectations in ‘ENPT’!
