Next to ‘Pyaar Prema Kaadhal’ and ‘Ispade Rajaavum Idhaya Raniyum’, we knew that Actor Santhana Bharathi’s son Sanjay Bharathi is introduced as a director through this film ‘Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale’ which is actually very much expected on screens because of the stars like Harish Kalyan, Digangana Suryavanshi and Reba Monica John in the lead cast. However, Harish Kalyan has created the image of a ‘chocolate boy’ class in Kollywood at present; let us see how this film had worked on screens this week!
Arjun (Harish Kalyan) who is a staunch believer in astrology is an employee in a well-recognized car showroom in Chennai such that he is grown-up by his widow mother who earns by running a small eatery mess in Kumbakonam. He lives with his uncle Karuppasamy (Munishkanth) in Chennai such that he gets an occasion to go for his ex-lover Anitha’s (Reba Monica John) wedding in Bangalore. However, our hero is also in a hunt to find an apt pair for him with Virgo zodiac, he meets and falls in love with an astronomer and yet to become astronaut KR Vijaya aka KRV (Digangana Suryavanshi) who is all set to go for a lone trip to Mars and makes a good relationship whereas KRV denies to marry Arjun for the sake of her dream to reach Mars successfully. Doing everything as per horoscope and his astrologer’s prediction, will Arjun and KRV join? What has made Arjun have so much belief in astrology? Will he get his right girl or will he change his thought that destiny is the main thing in life than astrology follows the rest in ‘Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale’!
Taking up a small and different idea in hand, Sanjay Bharathi has taken up a very unique storyline of a youngster who is so much in belief with astrology and is struggling to search for a girl with a right zodiac for matching his horoscope, the film is also in the right trend with lots of comedy, lust and also with good humor portions. Also, Sanjay Bharathi’s attempt in making the storyline as a narrative which is done by Yogi Babu himself is different and also very linear without any confusion. Overall, the film is a decent ‘A’ centric film and has neat cinematography and editing. Apart from that, few comedy portions, glamour portions, and songs were lagging out the interesting screenplay whereas the entire film’s story makes it considerable by without giving any tiring feel.
As it was mentioned earlier, Harish Kalyan had been improvising his chocolate boy look still more with cool expressions which are very evident in this film. Digangana Suryavanshi who plays the main heroine role has given a neat performance whereas the other girls Reba Monica John, Masoom Shankar and Raiza Wilson had performed well. Apart from that, the actors like Munishkanth as Harish’s uncle, Yogi Babu as the entire film’s narrator, Renuka as Harish’s mother, Pandiarajan as an astrologer and many others had performed well.
1) Direction & Narrative screenplay
2) Performance of the core cast
What doesn’t work?
1) Few awkward adult content sequences
2) Not interesting songs
On the whole, ‘Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale’ is a decent adult comedy film which is funny with a practical idea in the end but the story will definitely create awkwardness for any youngster to watch with his family!
Verdict: ‘Dhanusu Raasi Neyargale’ is a funny but entertaining hunt for the right match!
