Been inspiring the audience by taking up very powerful roles and characters, Deepika Padukone is remaining to be an inspiration such that ‘Chhapaak’ seems to be very special to her since she had turned out to be a producer as well. Also, there is a lot more expectation on the film since it is directed by Award-Winning ‘Raazi’ fame Meghna Gulzar. Let us see how ‘Chhapaak’ is working on screens this week!
Malti (Deepika Padukone), an acid attack victim, rushes to get a proper job in order to save her family from an economic crisis such that because of her looks, she is denied constantly to get employed. However, her dad’s boss, Shiraz is helping Malti and her family with the expenses; Malti gets a situation to meet Amol (Vikrant Massey), a former Journalist, who runs an NGO for acid attack victims and approaches for a job. Anyways, she gets to meet different acid attack victims who are suppressed to complain against their attackers due to the economical situations or to go for several hearings in the court by knowing that there is no use of trying to make the criminals punished because of the lenient law. On the other hand, Malti keeps fighting for banning acid in spite of her personal problems. What happens next? Will she somehow get justice? Will acid get banned? What is the back story? Will the criminal be punished is the success story of ‘Chhapaak’!
Coming to the analysis of the screenplay, the story had no great depression but with lots of motivation for every woman. The end was also delivered well because the bitter truth is there is no strict law for banning acid or for stopping acid attacks. Anyways, the message and the aspect was handled much carefully such that the romance, the fight, the performance, the background score was so deep to take everyone inside the screens which is actually appreciative! Great work Meghna Gulzar and not making us relate to Parvathy Menon’s ‘Uyare’! Apart from that, the makeup for Deepika Padukone was so apt by making us look Laxmi Aggarwal than Deepika Padukone in the film. The smile, the spirit, the mannerism! Every aspect was so perfect which proves Deepika’s perfectionism in performance as well. Apart from that, the technical aspects like cinematography, music, and editing had also played important roles in conveying the good feel throughout.
Besides Deepika, Vikrant Massey as Amol, Madhurjeet Sarghi as an advocate, Payal Nair as Malti’s well-wisher and Vishal Dahiya as the acid attacker had performed their roles well. Most importantly, the last but not the least; all the acid attack survivors had also done their roles so perfectly.
On the whole, ‘Chhapaak’ is all about a story with a splash of motivation for every woman who thinks beauty to be a great asset!
‘Chhapaak’ is a splash of spirit and constant fight for justice!
